Why we should go to Mars

Mars, also called the“red planet” is the fourth plant farthest from the sun. Humans have yet to step foot on this plant and is in [set foot on this planet and are in] constant debate about whether we should send humans to Mars or not. Many Americans thought that our space program budget was outrageous and a waste; however we learned many important facts about the solar system and if it would ever be possible to live on any other plants [planets]. The United States wanted to be the first to land on the moon and to be the most knowledgeable on the solar system. When it comes to landing on Mars, I see it as being like any other NASA project; they want to send humans to Mars to explore and to see if maybe one day Mars would be liveable for humans. What is postponing this exploration of Mars is that NASA needs more money and taxpayers do not want to pay more just so we can go to Mars.
The Augustine committee, as it’s known because of its head, Norm Augustine, was tasked in May with delivering the Obama administration options for human space exploration. Industry watchers saw the committee as a way to rethink NASA’sConstellation program, which promised to return Americans to the moon en route to Mars. Over the past couple of years, two things have become increasingly clear: NASA’s funding for human exploration didn’t match its goals; and the gap between the shuttle’s retirement (originally slated for 2010) and Constellation being ready to shoulder the load will be far longer than the two years originally planned.” The committee tried to come up with other options such as just spending money on technology to just go explore farther away from Earth and without landing on Mars or the moon. The government believes in the space programe. “The president has on numerous occasions confirmed his commitment to human space exploration, and the goal of ensuring that the nation is on a vigorous and sustainable path to achieving our boldest aspirations in space.” In raising the budget for the Mars exploration [,] there would be a lot of benefits; they want to make a better robot that can with stand [withstand] the climate and geology of Mars. They think that by coming up with a better robot will help disabled people in the end. “A robotic arm that doesn't require real-time human control might be good for disabled people who use wheelchairs and can't control a joystick with their hands. Using its own sensors, it could reach out and get things for the person in the wheelchair, for example.”
There is also a scientific bonanza waiting on Mars. Scientists call it comparative planetology. They would like to study the history of the Solar System and the evolution of the planets by comparing evidence found on Earth, the Moon, and Mars.”Mars is not a complete mystery we know about the climate and what is in the soil and that it has all the right nutrients, which is necessary for organisms to grow. Mars’ seasons is[are] most like earths’ seasons due to the way they are [it is tilted on its] tilted on the axis. We know about the geology, climate, and soil due to the rovers and landers, which have been sent to Mars by Japan, Europe, and the United States. The Unites States has spent over a half a million dollars just to transport material from the surface of Earth to the surface of Mars. There have been many failures in spacecraft made for the trip for Mars. NASA sees Mars as a goal that they need to complete. To make this happen NASA would need to come up with billions of more dollars and needs about seven years designated to this project.
Although we have seen, no evidence of water on Mars there is still a possibility that there is living organisms and water on Mars and I believe that is something of importance and needs to be explored. Mars is uncharted land that the United States wants to conquer and learn about and I believe it would be very beneficial to the world to go explore the unknown world.
